There are numerous ways of monetising your blog; affiliate links being one of them and Skimlinks is a simple, fuss-free way of doing this. Many advertisers are difficult to install, but Skimlinks take your content and automatically provide relevant links to key words you use.
As a business owner, you want to make money, and as a blogger, you don’t want to annoy your readers. That’s why I love Skimlinks, as they place relevant adverts on my site and provide me with an income, month in and month out.
HOW SKIMLINKS WORKS
Once you register, you’ll get instant access to over 20,000 affiliate programs without the hassle of having to sign up for individual programs. So unlink other advertisers, you aren’t waiting around for approval from multiple merchants.
Registering is a really simple process and if you want to just spend some time setting it up and then get back to blogging, Skimlinks is the best affiliate program to join. Is is fuss-free and takes no time out of your blogging schedule to set up affiliate links manually. They also automatically turn any existing links into affiliate links where they have an advertiser on board.
If you have more than one website then you can add them onto your account too, therefore increasing your earning potential.
Once you have registered and been approved, you can install Skimlinks on your website. On WordPress, then there is a plugin for Skimlinks with full instructions for setting it up within your dashboard once you are approved.
SKIMLINKS EDITOR TOOL
The Editor Tool is a fantastic free Chrome extension that you can download. You can generate affiliate links with the link generator, which can then be used directly.
You can post the links on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube or Pinterest, send it to a friend or include it an email newsletter. It’s ideal for monetising content on the move; for example when you want to add an affiliate link as a ‘swipe up link’ to your instagram story!
TRACKING EARNINGS ON SKIMLINKS
It’s easy to track your earnings on Skimlinks using their dashboard..
You can then delve deeper, filter by merchants, dates and run reports to find what is working for you and what isn’t.
SKIMLINKS PAYMENT THRESHOLD AND GETTING PAID
Skimlinks have a payment threshold of £50 and it’s worth noting that it is one of the slowest payers.
Payments are made every month once commission has been cleared, which can takes around 90 days to clear. So anything you earn in January is paid in April – providing you met the £50 minimum threshold. If you earned £30 in January and £20 in February, you can expect to be paid £50 in May.
Payments are made via Paypal or BACS; you decide.
You can also take part in online surveys to top up your affiliate income. This is something I do quite often!
